Hoping for Lightning
Major thunderstorms are rolling through Colorado tonight. The news has been hyping it, Grey’s Anatomy was ruined by weather warnings scrolled across the bottom of the screen, and the wind has been sounding the chimes throughout my neighborhood. Five minutes after the first lightning bolt struck, I decided to whip out my DSLR, my new 50MM lens, and my trusty tripod to try and capture the light in the sky.
And then…the lighting was gone. Don’t ya hate when that happens? While I wasn’t able to grab any lightning shots tonight, I did get a few other photos I thought were worth sharing.
Here were my camera settings:
ISO: 200
Aperture: f8
Shutter speed: I shot on Aperture Priority, so shutter speeds varied between 1 and 15
Focal length: 50mm
Lens focus: Set to manual focus; infinity
I used my tripod and my remote shutter release to ensure my photos didn’t come out blurry.
